Aleksa Brothers Group
Lithuania – Great Britain
Roberto Manzin - sax
Robin Aristorenas - g
Domas Aleksa - b
Marijus Aleksa - dr
The Aleksa brothers are the equivalent in music to the much loved Lavrinovičiai brothers in basketball who are just adored by their fans. To the uninitiated, the Aleksa brothers could be introduced as some of the most talented jazz musicians of the younger generation. Both performing and creating, they have already managed to compile an impressive portfolio of projects. The biographies of Domas (bass) and Marijus (drums), highlight: their stage appearances in Lithuania, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Italy, and the USA; cooperation with prominent Lithuanian jazz and pop stars (Vladimiras Čekasinas, Liudas Mockūnas, Skamp, G & G Sindikatas, and Linas Adomaitis); and awards at jazz competitions. The brothers are very well known amongst top Lithuanian performers and are never short of invitations to play. Domas and his friends have recently been devoting much time to the D'Orange project, whereas Marijus, who has lived in London since 2008, is making his way amongst the thousands of musicians of that city. As a result, we do not often have the opportunity to see the brothers on stage together. This time, Marijus and Domas are presenting a project with the participation of two guests from Great Britain. They are: Philippines born guitar player, Robin Aristoren, known to Lithuanian audiences through his collaborations with the brothers, Chaka Khan, Joey Calderazzo, and others; and the Italian born saxophone player Roberto Manzin, also based in England. The list of people he has played with during his career includes such greats as James Brown, Trilok Gurt, Manu Katche, Donna Summer and Zucchero. This international quartet is inviting us on a musical journey full of intriguing twists and turns.
